BISON SIGN FORWARDS MIKHAIL ABRAMOV AND GRIFFEN FOX By: Erik Konwinski, Bloomington Bison Bloomington, Ill. – Bloomington Bison Head Coach and VP of Hockey Operations Phillip Barski announced today that the team has signed forwards Mikhail Abramov and Griffen Fox to standard player contracts. Abramov, 27, played 25 games with the VHL’s Metallurg Novokuznetsk last season and has over six years of professional hockey experience between the VHL and the KHL, Russia’s highest-level league. The 6-foot-1, 192-pound Neryungri, Russia, native has scored three goals and seven points in 39 career KHL games with Kunlun Red Star and HK Sochi and has amassed 50 points (21g-29a) in 158 career VHL games with numerous teams. Fox, 25, began the season with the SHPL’s Peoria Rivermen and has registered 43 points (22g-21a) in 69 career SPHL games with a +33 rating. Moore, 24, has appeared in 12 games with the Wolf Pack as a rookie this season, recording two assists. He notched his first career professional point, an assist, on Nov. 21 against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. The native of Greenwich, CT, signed a one-year deal with the Wolf Pack on Jun. 23. Prior to signing with the Wolf Pack, Moore skated in 163 NCAA games over five seasons with the University of North Dakota and Quinnipiac University. BISON ACQUIRE FORWARD MATT HUBBARDE By: Erik Konwinski, Bloomington Bison Bloomington, Ill. – Bloomington Bison Head Coach and VP of Hockey Operations Philip Barski announced today that the team has acquired forward Matt Hubbarde from the Rapid City Rush in exchange for future considerations. Hubbarde, 25, has scored one goal and recorded five points in 21 games with the Rush after beginning the season with the Iowa Heartlanders. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Pickering, Ontario, native played collegiate hockey at Dartmouth, Providence and the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and amassed 52 points (25g-27a) in 95 NCAA Division-I games. In his senior season, he led the University of Alaska-Fairbanks with 23 points (13g-10a) in 30 games. Hubbarde began his professional career in early 2025 and recorded six points (3g-3a) in 13 games with Iowa. Their third period offensive outburst was the difference in a 5-2 victory , the club’s first in the ‘Battle of Connecticut’ this season. Zakary Karpa opened the scoring with his first career AHL goal in his AHL debut. BISON LOSE TO WINGS,  2-1 ON SATURDAY By: Erik Konwinski, Bloomington Bison Bloomington, Ill. – Dryden McKay made 26 saves and Brett Budgell scored his third shorthanded goal of the season but the Bloomington Bison fell 2-1 to the Kalamazoo Wings at Grossinger Motors Arena on Saturday evening. With physical play mounting early, the first period ended up penalty-ridden with a combined 14 penalty minutes dished out and set the tone for the rest of the game. Bloomington’s penalty kill went three-for-three and Kalamazoo was two-for-two, with the Bison taking further advantage of shorthanded time to go up 1-0. Budgell capitalized on a two-on-one tap-in set up by Lou-Felix Denis after Denis forced a turnover on the Bloomington side of center. Budgell’s third shorthanded tally tied him for the most of any skater in the league this season. Despite their efforts, the Wolf Pack came up short in a 2-1 shootout loss. The Wolf Pack and Phantoms traded chances in the opening frame, but each goaltender was up to the task. Spencer Martin made eleven saves in net for the Wolf Pack, while Carson Bjarnason turned aside eight bids. The Phantoms went to the power play early in the second period when Bryce McConnell-Barker was whistled for unsportsmanlike conduct. On the power play, Cooper Marody fed Lane Pederson in the left-wing circle. The veteran settled the puck and beat Martin by the right pad at 2:11 to break the ice. For the first time in five games, the Bison allowed the first goal of the game, and the Wings took advantage of extended puck possession to go up 1-0 at 13:04. Callum Tung had a strong first period, and helped the Bison build momentum but another last-minute goal stunned Bloomington. The Crunch would score three of the following four goals, however, taking a 5-3 decision . Brendan Furry opened the scoring 10:31 into the hockey game. Maxim Groshev darted down the right-wing side and fired a shot that Dylan Garand denied. The rebound went off the right leg of Furry and in to make it 1-0. BISON FALL TO MAVERICKS, 2-1 SUNDAY By: Erik Konwinski, Bloomington Bison Bloomington, Ill –  Callum Tung made 25 saves, and Eddie Matsushima scored on the power play, but the Bloomington Bison fell 2-1 to the Kansas City Mavericks at Grossinger Motors Arena on Sunday evening. For the second-straight game, the teams traded many chances early, and Bloomington scored first. Just over four minutes into the action, Matsushima made an immediate impact in his return to the lineup after missing Saturday’s game. The Bison captain finished off a tic-tac-toe passing play from Mark Kaleinikovas and Daniel Tedesco to give the home squad a 1-0 lead. It took less than two minutes for Kansas City to tie things up. Bloomington looked to have regained its lead just 25 seconds later, but the play was reviewed, and the puck never crossed the goal line. BISON TOPPLE MAVERICKS 3-2 ON SATURDAY By: Erik Konwinski, Bloomington Bison Bloomington, Ill – Hugo Ollas recorded 32 saves and was perfect in the shootout as the Bloomington Bison defeated the Kansas City Mavericks 3-2 at Grossinger Motors Arena Saturday. Bloomington jumped to a first-period lead after seven minutes when Kyle Jackson set up Sullivan Mack in front of the net, and Mack potted his third goal of the season through traffic. Nikita Sedov assisted to earn his fifth assist in the last two games. Just over two minutes later, Mack ripped home his second of the evening on a delayed odd-man break set up by Lou-Felix Denis and Seung Jae Lee. Ollas started strong and froze pucks through traffic to control rebounds, stopping all 15 shots he faced in the first period. WOLF PACK LOSE 7-2 TO CRUNCH By: Alex Thomas, Hartford Wolf Pack SYRACUSE, NY – The Hartford Wolf Pack took a 2-1 first-period lead in Syracuse on Saturday night. Despite that, the Wolf Pack surrendered six unanswered goals and dropped a 7-2 decision to the Syracuse Crunch . Connor Mackey opened the scoring 1:57 into the hockey game, sneaking his first goal of the season by Ryan Fanti. Dylan Roobroeck won a faceoff back to the left-wing point, where Mackey fired a shot that Fanti appeared to deny. The puck leaked through Fanti, however, and trickled in to make it 1-0. The Wolf Pack surrendered their fourth shorthanded goal of the season at 10:07. After a turnover at the blueline, Mitchell Chaffee chipped a puck ahead and sprung Jack Finley in on a breakaway. Finley snapped a shot by Spencer Martin for his first goal of the season to make it 1-1. Brennan Othmann potted his third goal in four games at 15:53, restoring the lead.
