ISLANDERS FACEPLANTED BY PENGUINS By: Alan Fuehring, Bridgeport Islanders BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (March 23, 2025) - The Bridgeport Islanders (14-41-4-3), American Hockey League affiliate of the New York Islanders, dropped a 5-2 final to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (35-18-7-1) at Total Mortgage Arena on Sunday, despite goals from Marshall Warren and Alex Jefferies. Sam Poulin scored once and tallied two assists to lead the Penguins. Matt Nieto also recorded a goal and an assist, while former Bridgeport defenseman Sebastian Aho logged three helpers in his first game back at Total Mortgage Arena. Goaltender Filip Larsson (11-8-3) blocked 22 of the 24 shots he faced for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. On the Islanders’ side, Jefferies scored his 11th goal of the season and now has three goals in his last eight games. He leads all Bridgeport rookies in goals, assists (15), and points (26). BISON ADD JACK ROBILOTTI By: Andy Zilch, Bloomington Bison Bloomington, Ill. –  Bloomington Bison General Manager and Head Coach, Phillip Barski, announced today that the team has signed defenseman Jack Robilotti to an ECHL standard player contract. Robilotti, 23, dressed in 35 games this season with UMass - Lowell tallying six points (two goals, four assists) and amassed 32 penalty minutes with a +6 rating.    The New York, New York native skated in 161 career NCAA games between the River Hawks and Holy Cross College. He totaled 23 points (eight goals, 15 assists) with 185 penalty minutes. Before his professional career, the 6-foot-3, 194-pound defensemen played two seasons in the USHL with the Fargo Force and Muskegon Lumberjacks. He amassed 52 games and collected nine points (one goals, eight assists) with 51 penalty minutes. RALLY FALLS SHORT AGAINST GHOST PIRATES Swamp Rabbits strike twice in second, but couldn’t muster tying strike late By: Mark Binetti, Greenville Swamp Rabbits (GREENVILLE, S.C.) –  Tyson Fawcett scored shorthanded and Kyle Haskins added his first pro goal 85 seconds later in a second-period rally, but it wasn’t enough to overtake the Savannah Ghost Pirates, who rode a 3-0 first-period lead to a 5-2 win on Sunday. Devon Paliani started the early Ghost Pirates rally with his first of two on the game. With 9:58 to play in the first, the puck was turned over in the Swamp Rabbits' zone and worked around for a shot on goal started by Kolby Hay, producing a rebound that Paliani potted to give Savannah a 1-0 lead (Pat Guay and Matt Choupani assisted). Just 2:37 later, a neutral zone turnover sprung a Ghost Pirates two-on-one, leading to Rylan Van Unen notching his first pro goal to double the lead to 2-0 with 7:21 left (Kyle Jeffers assisted). MAXIM BARBASHEV SCORES FIRST CAREER AHL GOAL IN 4-1 LOSS TO PENGUINS By: Alex Thomas, Hartford Wolf Pack HARTFORD, CT – The Hartford Wolf Pack fell behind early on Friday night and were unable to dig out of the hole in front of 7,833 fans at the XL Center in Hartford. The result was the club’s fourth straight loss, 4-1 at the hands of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins . For the second straight meeting in Hartford, the Penguins erupted to take control of the hockey game in the first period. The visitors outshot the Wolf Pack 14-6 and outscored them 3-0. Rutger McGroarty opened the scoring just 29 seconds in, firing a shot by Louis Domingue from the left-wing circle. The goal was McGroarty’s seventh of the season and his third against the Wolf Pack. It was also the fastest goal surrendered by the Wolf Pack to start a game this season. At 10:44, Lucas Edmonds was whistled for a high-sticking minor, giving the Penguins the game’s first power play. WOLF PACK INK F NOAH LABA TO AMATEUR TRYOUT AGREEMENT By: Alex Thomas, Hartford Wolf Pack HARTFORD, CT – New York Rangers Assistant General Manager and Hartford Wolf Pack General Manager Ryan Martin announced today that the club has agreed to an amateur tryout agreement (ATO) with forward Noah Laba for the remainder of the 2024-25 season. Laba, 21, inked a two-year entry level contract with the Rangers earlier today. That deal will start with the 2025-26 season. The native of Northville, MI, scored 26 points (10 g, 16 a) in 29 games with Colorado College as a junior this season. He finished tied for the team lead in goals with ten and tied for second in points with 26. He also ranked first on the club in +/- (+10) and finished fourth in the NCHC Conference in faceoff percentage (57.3%). Laba set career-high marks with 20 goals, 17 assists, and 37 points in 36 games as a sophomore during the 2023-24 campaign.
