KORCZAK & GARLAND LEAD WOLF PACK TO OT VICTORY

By: Jason Alwang, Howlings HARTFORD, CT: Ryder Korczak scored 2:44 into overtime, and Dylan Garand recorded 22 saves in the Hartford Wolf Pack's (4-2-0-1) thrilling comeback victory over the Grand Rapids Griffins Wednesday night at the XL Center. "Feels nice to get the goal," Korczak said of his game-winner. "I think we battled back in the third period, and it's definitely nice to get the goal and the win." He added, "It shows (the team's) character. Our first two periods, we didn't play our best, but we stuck with it, and I feel like the third period we dominated." In the five-minute 3-on-3 overtime, the Pack got puck possession with Casey Fitzgerald, Adam Sykora, and Korczak on the ice. This will mark the club's lone trip to Syracuse and the first of three on the season to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. These road games also mark the club's first back-to-back road games of the season. The Wolf Pack played at Lehigh Valley on October 12 and Bridgeport on October 20. Friday, November 1, 2024, at Syracuse Crunch (7:00 p.m.) : The first of two meetings between the Wolf Pack and the Crunch on the season occur Friday night at Upstate Medical University Arena. It will mark the first time this season that the Wolf Pack face an opponent from the North Division. The sides split two chippy contests last November when they met for a home-and-home set. ISLANDERS FALL SHORT AGAINST PENGUINS

(October 30, 2024) -  The Bridgeport Islanders (1-5-1-1), an American Hockey League affiliate of the New York Islanders, racked up three goals in the second period but fell to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (5-2-0-0), 4-3 in a shootout, at Total Mortgage Arena on Wednesday. Brian Pinho led the Islanders' offense, scoring a goal for the fourth straight game and his league-leading third goal shorthanded. He had two points (one goal, one assist), while Samuel Bolduc and Fredrik Karlstrom also notched one goal each. Jonathan Gruden had two goals for the Penguins. BOX SCORE The Penguins dominated the first three minutes of play, as Ville Koivunen and Gruden buried the puck past Marcus Hogberg (0-4-1), who was busy overall and ended the night with 38 saves. BISON FALTER AGAINST IOWA HEARTLANDERS

By: Andy Zilch, Bloomington Bison Coralville, Iowa  – The Bloomington Bison suffered a 1-0 regulation loss to the Iowa Heartlanders on Wednesday night at the Xtream Arena. The first period saw no scoring but showcased the same intensity from Saturday’s matchup. In his first game this season, Bison forward Jackson Stewart dropped the gloves with Heartlander forward Nico Blachman. Five other penalties were assessed in the period that saw Iowa outshoot the Bison by a 13-9 margin. The stalemate was broken late in the second period as Heartlanders forward Will Calverley buried his fourth of the season. Will Zmolek and Kyle Masters assisted the goal. The Heartlanders continued to pepper the net with 14 shots in the period. The Bison registered seven shots in the frame. Down by a 1-0 score in the final period, the Bison put forth a valiant effort to the tie game with 15 shots on goal. Montgomery, 21, skated in two games last weekend with the Wolves, registering one shot and a -1 rating. With the Bison, he scored the first goal in franchise history on October 20 against the Toledo Walleye, his lone point in two games played. Last season, he tallied four goals and eight assists (12 points) in 42 games for the South Carolina Stingrays. The Washington, D.C. native played in 84 career OHL games with the London Knights, posting two goals and six assists (eight points) with 70 penalty minutes. McLaughlin, 24, collected three assists in four games with the Bison this season. He split the 2023-24 season between the AHL’s San Diego Gulls and the ECHL’s Tulsa Oilers. With the Oilers, McLaughlin scored 11 goals and 14 assists (25 points) in 21 games. Last spring, he added four assists in the club's four Kelly Cup Playoff games. The Grand Rapids, Minnesota native also recorded two assists in 29 games with the Gulls. Throughout three pro seasons, McLaughlin has appeared in 60 AHL games with the Gulls and scored one goal and two assists. He also recorded 25 goals and 34 assists (59 points) in 64 ECHL games during that span, all with the Oilers. The club enters the final week of October with a record of 3-2-0-1 and will play three games in four nights starting on Wednesday. The Wolf Pack posted a record of 1-1-0-0 during October’s final weekend. Friday, October 25th, 2024, Vs. Lehigh Valley Phantoms (4-3 OTW): Bo Groulx’s stellar start continued on Friday night with his first game-winning goal as a member of the Wolf Pack. Groulx took a feed from Brett Berard, waited out Alexei Kolosov, then stuffed home the winner 39 seconds into the extra frame to push the Wolf Pack to 3-0-0-0 at home. Berard, who set up the winner, opened the scoring 3:38 into the tilt with his team-leading fifth goal of the season. By: Jason Alwang, Howlings HARTFORD, CT - The Hartford Wolf Pack saw Colten Ellis make 27 saves while Tanner Dickinson scored the game-winner in a 5-2 Springfield Thunderbirds win Sunday at the XL Center. The TBirds received goals from five different players in the win.   Dickinson's game-winner came at 11:08 of the second period. It was his first of the season from right in the middle of the Pack's defensive zone. Dickinson put a pass from Michael Buchinger over the Shoulder of Pack netminder Louis Domingue for the TBirds 3-1 lead, which proved to be the difference-maker. Dylan Peterson got the secondary assist. The scoring began in the first period when the Pack scored the first goal at 8:16. Jaroslav Chmelar's outlet pass from the defensive zone was on target to the stick of Bo Groulx. He started on his way up the ice on a 2-on-1 rush with Brett Berard. Siedem, 23, has appeared in two games with the Wolf Pack this season, recording an assist. He was credited with his first professional point on Oct. 19 against the Bridgeport Islanders. A season ago, the native of Madison, NJ, recorded 20 points (3 g, 17 a) in 36 games with the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He signed a free-agent contract with the Wolf Pack on March 26. There was no scoring in the first period, with the Heartlanders outshooting the Bison 8-6 in the opening 20 minutes. Forty-two seconds into period two, Jackson Leppard scored on a two-on-one to break open the scoring. Brett Budgell and Jonny Evans assisted his first of the season. 2:07 into the period, Jake Murray was whistled on a tripping call for the game’s first infraction. Iowa would capitalize with a Will Calverley goal on a sharp angle. Matthew Sop and Jack O’Brien assisted his second of the season. Bedard one-timed a pass from Casey Fitzgerald and blasted it past Marcus Hogberg for the victory. Khazheyev, 19, played 27 minutes on Sunday against the Toledo Walleye allowing three goals on 15 shots. He played in 28 games last season with Chelyabinsk (Russian Junior Hockey), posting a 16-5-3 record with a .927 save percentage and a 2.19 goals-against average. The 6-foot-4, 201-pound goaltender also played one game with Chelyabinsk (Russian Supreme Hockey League), earning a victory by making 23 saves on 24 shots. B y: Lauren McQuillan, Howlings FAIRFIELD, CT - The Sacred Heart Pioneers men’s hockey returned home to the Martire Family Arena following a 4-3 upset win over the UMass Minutemen (Ranked #15/17) on Friday night. A three-point night (2g, 1a) from freshman defenseman  Francesco Dell'Elce and a four-goal third period by the Minutemen finished off the Pioneers and gave the visitors a 6-1 win. After a solid first period in which they outshot the visitors 10-5, neither team could strike gold, but that changed early in the second period. At 2:20 of the second period, Dell'Elce scored the first of his two goals exactly seven minutes apart (2:20 and 9:20), with the second proving to be the game-winner. Just three seconds after killing off a tripping penalty, Jordan Oesterle netted a shot from the top of the circle to make it 3-2.  “As a group, I think we played a pretty solid game,” Islanders Assistant Captain Brian Pinho said afterward. “(We) made a couple of mistakes that ended up in our net, but it was a good atmosphere tonight, and hopefully we can win tomorrow.”  The Bruins struck early in the first period when forward Brett Harrison’s backhanded pass found Vinni Lettieri. (October 20, 2024) -  Jakub Skarek made 24 saves for his fifth career American Hockey League shutout on Sunday, backstopping the Bridgeport Islanders (1-3-0-1), the AHL affiliate of the New York Islanders, to a 4-0 win over the Hartford Wolf Pack (2-1-0-1) at Total Mortgage Arena. It was the Islanders’ first shutout since March 30, 2023 against Charlotte. Brian Pinho (shorthanded), Alex Jefferies, Marc Gatcomb, and William Dufour scored goals for Bridgeport in the team’s first victory of the season. By: Mark Binetti, Greenville Swamp Rabbits SWAMP RABBITS ACQUIRE ROBIDOUX IN A TRADE Fourth-year forward comes to the Upstate in a swap for Luke Richardson (GREENVILLE, S.C.) – The Greenville Swamp Rabbits, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings, announced today via a Swamp Rabbit Moving Transaction that the team has acquired forward Mikael Robidoux from the Wheeling Nailers in exchange for goaltender Luke Richardson. Robidoux comes to the Swamp Rabbits after completing his third ECHL season and second with the Allen Americans. The 5’11”, 200-pound forward notched a dozen points in “The Lone Star State” (7g-5ast) and accrued 176 PIM in 41 contests. Robidoux added another assist in three Kelly Cup Playoff games against the Idaho Steelheads. BISON COMPLETE TRADE WITH STINGRAYS By: Andy Zilch, Bloomington Bison   Bloomington, Ill. - Bloomington Bison General Manager and Head Coach Phillip Barski announced today that the team has traded forward Jamie Engelbert to the South Carolina Stingrays. This move completes the future considerations portion of the previous trade that sent forwards Jonny Evans and Jackson Leppard to the Bison. Engelbert, 24, tallied one assist with a +1 rating over the two games this weekend against the Toledo Walleye. Last season, he skated in 28 games with Providence College, scoring seven goals and four assists (11 points) with 16 penalty minutes and a +3 rating. The 6-foot-4 forward tallied 24 goals, 21 assists (45 points), and 96 penalty minutes in 145 games with Providence College over five seasons. Engelbert is home to Whitby, Ontario.
